The Doon Girls’ School hosted The Lighthouse: Transforming Pastoral Practices from 22–24 August, a three-day workshop curated for pastoral heads of BSAI-member boarding schools.

Curated by Monisha Datta, director, The Doon Girls’ School, the event brought together leading voices in student wellbeing, including counselling psychologist Gunjan Prasad and Dr Dipti Dhadwani from Mpower.

The workshop opened on a celebratory note with a soulful rendition of Any Dream Will Do by the school choir, followed by a traditional Theyyam performance, symbolising cultural inclusivity and joy.

A surprise highlight was a visit to The Doon School, where headmaster Dr Jagpreet Singh hosted delegates at the school’s newly opened café, blending hospitality with inspiration.

On Day Two, Dr Dhadwani explored trauma-informed approaches to pastoral care, explaining the neuropsychological foundations of behaviour and their impact on emotional wellbeing and interpersonal relationships.

The workshop closed with a group photograph and certificate distribution by Dr Singh and Vinay Pande. In his closing address, Dr Singh urged educators to “lead with empathy, purpose, and heart,” leaving participants energised to strengthen pastoral practices within their schools.
