Apoorav Nischal Driving AI-Powered Transformation in K-12 EducationApoorav Nischal is the Managing Director & Country Head of Bengaluru-based PowerSchool India Pvt. Ltd (PSIPL, estb. 2017), an edtech company serving 1,000 K-12 schools nationwide with cloud-based software solutions. Its offerings range from AI-powered personalized learning tools to integrated ERP, LMS, data analytics, and communication platforms that connect students, teachers, administrators, and parents to improve student outcomes. Among its client schools are Fr Agnel School, Ekya School, Maxford, and Kakatiya School.

PSIPL is the Indian subsidiary of PowerSchool Group LLC, headquartered in Folsom, California (USA), a global leader in K-12 education technology serving over 60 million students across more than 90 countries.

News peg. In January, PowerSchool launched Whats-AI — an AI-powered WhatsApp assistant designed for schools, enabling parents and teachers to access real-time student information, including attendance, homework, and exam schedules.

Career history. An alumnus of VNIT, Nagpur (engineering) and IIM-Lucknow (business management), Nischal has over two decades of experience across the IT and edtech sectors. He has held senior leadership positions at HCL Technologies and R Systems before joining PowerSchool India in 2017. Over the past seven years, he has spearheaded the growth of PowerSchool’s Global Capability Center (GCC) — a centre of excellence — from inception to a team of over 1,400 employees. This marks the third GCC he has built in his career, having also supported several global organisations in establishing their GCCs in India.

Direct talk. “At its core, PowerSchool’s mission is to transform education through innovative technology, ensuring every student receives a personalized learning experience. Globally, we serve over 60 million students in 90+ countries. In India, our solutions are empowering over 1,000 schools to deliver scalable, efficient, and personalized learning experiences. Our platform is designed to meet regional needs while providing globally integrated solutions that support schools in every aspect — from administration and learning management to data analytics — helping institutions achieve operational efficiency and academic excellence.

Our Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, established over seven years ago, is a key driver of this impact. Today, it houses more than 1,400 employees across engineering, AI innovation, customer success, and product delivery. We’ve recently expanded to Chennai, where our second centre is growing rapidly. These centres are not just delivery hubs, but innovation powerhouses deeply integrated into our global ecosystem,” says Nischal.

Future plans. Nischal is clear about the road ahead. “We plan to enhance our unified education ecosystem, embedding AI and data analytics even more deeply to deliver personalized learning and actionable insights. We aim to equip every educator with the training, support, and tools they need to make a real impact. Personalized onboarding and continuous support will remain a top priority,” he affirms.
