Canadian International School, Bangalore (CIS), in association with the Terry Fox Foundation, is set to host the Terry Fox Run on Saturday, September 20 at its campus in Yelahanka.

The Terry Fox Run honors Terry Fox, who in 1980 ran a marathon a day across Canada with a prosthetic leg to raise funds and awareness for cancer research. His determination continues to inspire millions in the fight against cancer.

The run will begin at the CIS campus, moving around the Manchenahalli lake in Yelahanka, and ending at CIS. The Terry Fox Run is a non-competitive, global charity event held in memory of Canadian cancer research activist Terry Fox and his legendary Marathon of Hope, which continues to inspire millions worldwide. Hundreds of participants from various schools, colleges, and organizations across the city are expected to take part in this 5k run.

The school aims to raise around ₹25 lakhs this year, in support of cancer research at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and with all proceeds going towards cancer research in India.

The Terry Fox Run at Canadian International School, Bangalore (CIS), is open to all, students, teachers, parents, and guests from across the city. Participants can choose to walk, jog, cycle, skate, or run at their own pace. Registration is free, and everyone is encouraged to contribute to cancer research by making an online donation to the Terry Fox Foundation or purchasing an official TFR T-shirt.

“Each year, we witness students, parents, educators, and friends stand shoulder to shoulder for this cause, a reminder that collective action can make a lasting impact. Our goal at CIS is not just to raise funds, but to inspire hope and resilience in the face of adversity, just as Terry did.” said Shweta Sastri, Managing Director, Canadian International School.
